While the ISO 10218 - Robots and Robotic Devices Safety Package is specific to industrial robots, it is a comprehensive collection that provides the design, manufacturing, installation, operation, maintenance - and if neccessary - the decommissioning of an industrial robot system. The package includes: ISO 10218-1:2011 ISO 10218-2:2011

ISO 10218-2:2011 does not deal specifically with hazards associated with processes (e.g. laser radiation, ejected chips, welding smoke). Other standards can be applicable to these process hazards. The safety requirements on collaborative robot systems in accordance with ISO 10218-1 and ISO 10218-2 have not yet been described comprehensively. The safety requirements have been developed further as part of the Technical Specification ISO/TS 15066. These contents are partly included in the revision of the two standards and/or they are supplemented there. This part of ISO 10218 specifies requirements and guidelines for the inherent safe design, protective measures and information for use of industrial robots.
